The 52: Create, Curate, and Collaborate

Week 19

Create, Curate, and Collaborate

During one of my weekly Clubhouse sessions with Kristin Harad, she presented the idea that a content strategy should consist of three components: Create, curate, and collaborate. I loved the simplicity of this framework, so I thought I’d share my interpretation of the concept when it comes to niche marketing.

When developing a content strategy for a niche, your mix should look like this:

  1. Create: Develop your own content to establish your unique voice and demonstrate your expertise to your niche market. Examples of original content include blogs, white papers, videos, podcasts, and infographics.

  2. Curate: Share original content created by others that would be of interest and value to your niche. An example of this is Michael Kitces’ "Weekend Reading for Financial Planners."

  3. Collaborate: Partner up in creating content with other experts (e.g., centers of influence, other industry providers) who reach your same niche audience. Examples would be making a guest appearance on a podcast that your niche tunes in to or hosting a joint webinar with a COI.
